✕This is Skiathos's most famous beach, accessible only by boat, and in peak season the boats deliver hundreds of people to a small cove. Go on the first boat (09:00) or choose the afternoon departure when crowds thin.
✕The town's narrow streets were not designed for cars. Parking is a nightmare in summer. Use the free lots outside town and walk in — the town is compact and the walk is pleasant.
✕Skiathos has over sixty beaches and the north coast (Elios, Agios Ioannis, Koukounaries) is where the locals go. The south coast is beautiful but the north has wilder, quieter coves.
✕Yes, it is one of the best beaches in the Sporades. But it is also the most crowded. Banana beach next door has the same sand and fewer people.
✕The Evangelistria monastery above town has spectacular views and a fascinating collection of icons and relics. The hike up is shaded and beautiful.
💡 What nobody tells you: Skiathos is the smallest of the inhabited Sporades and you can see its highlights in two days. But the real pleasure is in the slow discovery — finding a tiny cove by following a goat track, watching the fishing boats at Agia Paraskevi, or having a tsipouro at the harbour in Sklithri where the old men play backgammon until midnight.
